Eight Moon is an award-winning, Minnesota-based creative firm—and a certified women-owned business—that has been providing full-service branding, marketing, positioning and advertising services for more than three decades. As a staff member, my team was tasked with completely evolving the agency’s brand—an identity shift that included a new name, logo, iconography and digital marketing. I designed a new company website that incorporated the new branding that reflects the company’s thirty years of expertise through an updated, more modern lens.
INSPIRATION
The firm’s new brand name is inspired by the eighth phase of the moon—the final stage of the lunar cycle when creativity is said to flourish. This provided a wealth of visual concepts to explore. The refreshed identity features a deep midnight blue background that depicts all the phases of the moon, overlaid with the agency’s new logo—designed with the colors of a memorable twilight in mind. To ground the concept, a crescent moon representing the eighth phase of the lunar cycle dots the lower case i in eight.
PROCESS
The color palette was chosen to evoke the night sky and the uniquely creative name the decades-old firm selected to define their next chapter. On their website, the hero image features a looping video of the night sky turning deep purple, blue, and orange as the sun sets just out of frame. I overlaid this with custom illustrations of the eight lunar phases—details that are central to the agency’s refreshed and slightly playful new brand identity.
GOAL
The goal of the project was to express the firm’s new brand identity through careful choice of colors, fonts, and vibrant iconography. Every small detail needed to feel like an intentional part of a unified whole that speaks to the Eight Moon™ name and its meaning—the time and space where “imagination unfolds.”
RESULT
The end result is an evocative new brand system that showcases the firm’s new name and identity through every deliberate choice—one that highlights our Eight Moon team’s proven ability to weave language, color, and design elements seamlessly together for clients.
